The 2012 Cattle Industry Convention and National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) Trade Show was held in Nashville, Tenn.,  January 30-February 4. The 114thannual convention is the oldest and largest gathering in the beef industry. This year marked a record breaking attendance with more than 8,200 attendees, surpassing the old record of approximately 7,000, set at NCBA’s 1998 centennial celebration. Attendees learned about the latest trends and technologies in the industry by visiting the NCBA Trade show, in addition to attending committee meetings and taking part in NCBA’s grassroots policy process.

SFP was recognized as an Allied Industry Partner during the convention, hosting the NCBA Pre-Convention Agricultural Tour Dinner at NorthStar Studios prior to filming an episode of SFP LIVE on RFD-TV, hosted by Ag broadcaster, Max Armstrong. Joining Armstrong in a panel discussion were Dr. Larry Sanders, SFP president and CEO; Dave Schwartz, SFP vice president of sales and business development; and Will VanNostran, president and CEO of Mountain States Consulting, Inc. During the show, the panel discussed the role SFP products play in helping growers maximize fertilizer investments for forage crops and the importance of quality forage in cattle production. Panelists also answered questions from members of the studio audience. If you missed the airing of the live show, be sure to view the episode on SFP’s YouTube channel.

SFP also sponsored the Pre-Convention Agricultural Tour. This year’s tour took nearly 80 participants through parts of Tennessee’s rich agriculture territories; including the Tennessee Farmer’s Cooperative, area cattle operations and the Jack Daniels Distillery. Participants took photos during the tour and entered them in a photo contest. The people’s choice winner was selected by receiving the most votes during the NCBA Trade Show. Additionally, SFP provided complementary boot shines to cattlemen and women throughout the duration of the tradeshow.
